Vinyasa Yoga is a style of Hatha yoga that links breath with movement. Each posture is connected to the next through creatively sequenced transitions. Vinyasa classes flow together smoothly and bring attention to both the poses and the space between the poses. Aimed at a wide range of practitioners, with a moderately vigorous level of intensity. Modifications will be given for both beginning and advanced students. The class structure and music will vary based on the instructor. As with all classes, everything is a suggestion and nothing is a requirement. If you are new to yoga, please attend 5-10 classes practice before attending Vinyasa.
Rise & Shine! An hour-long early morning vinyasa practice to jump-start your day. All levels welcome!
While this is a mixed level class and can certainly be worked at your own pace, the Dynamic Vinyasa flow tends to be vigorous. High energy core work is a routine component of class, and is accompanied by contemporary music. The intention is to mix a challenging, warming vinyasa practice with loud joyful music, so that students can work harder and stretched deeper while having a light-hearted, fun time.
This class combines mindful breathing with slow and mindful movements. Poses are sequenced in a slow and gentle manner, offering longer holds and less physical vigor than a Vinyasa class. By slowing down, students can explore a greater sense of opening of the body, a release of tension and a calming of the mind. The intention of this class is to enjoy the healing properties of the practice and the beauty of slowing down.
The place to begin, the place to return. This class emphasizes form and intention behind foundational poses. We will practice alignment, breath work, core engagement, and body awareness so that your practice to evolve intelligently. A great place for anyone seeking to develop safe and strong yoga foundations.
Most styles practiced today emphasize muscular contraction and are considered yang. By contrast, Yin Yoga targets connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments in the legs, hips, spine, and shoulders. Yin postures are practiced on the floor and are held in a relaxed non-muscular way for 4 to 6 minutes. The goals of yin yoga are to lengthen and strengthen connective tissue to promote skeletal health by stimulating the production of synovial fluid in the joints and to use the breath to quiet the anxious mind. Suitable for those students interested in the principles of yogic stretch and injury prevention as well as those interested in yoga for stress reduction and as meditation. The principal mantra is " relax completely, allow gravity to do the work, do less to stretch more. "
Sivananda is a sequence of specific Hatha postures designed to stimulate internal glands and organs, increase flexibility and strength in the body as well as concentration and focus of the mind. Sivananda incorporates relaxation and breathing throughout the sequence. it is practiced in an inward, meditative fashion and is suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners alike.
This class emphasizes the complementary ideas of yin and yang as it’s guiding principles. The opening portion of class is all about yin tissue, the slow-moving connective tissue that knits the body together. Through forward folds, twists, backbends and side bends, the fascial tissue in the legs and torso will become more elastic. The second portion of class is the yang and offers a way to engage the muscular body and move the body through space mindfully. Expect the yin portion to be slow and deliberate and to learn new and dynamic ways to practice Vinyasa in the latter portion. All levels welcome.
